Iron Staining

 Bore Irrigation

(Click on photos, hover mouse to scroll – Back to Main Gallery)

Staining from bores is a common problem when water with an iron content comes into contact with a surface.  The iron present in the bore water oxidizes to iron oxide (rust) leaving a red/rust colour on that surface.  It is not uncommon to see rust on surfaces such as;

  • Pathways
  • Walls
  • Windows
  • Garden fittings
  • Tree trunks
  • Toilets & basins

The good news is that most stains can be removed and in most cases remedies can be used to minimise ongoing staining.
